No matter what your goal is, losing weight can be very intimidating.

If you are a beginner, it is especially daunting to sift through all of the information available about what to eat and how to work out.

Losing weight is the sum of your diet and exercise efforts, and is a complete lifestyle change you make for your body and your health.

If you are looking to lose weight and don’t know how to go about it, here are 10 quick tips to help you get started.

1. Do Set Attainable Goals

When you are just starting out, it is important to figure out exactly what you want to accomplish with your new lifestyle change. Once you have that figured out, break your goal down into smaller goals that are easier to attain.

Here are some useful tips:

Be realistic about your goals. There are so many things that can go wrong and prevent you from meeting a high goal. When this happens it can be hard to keep going, and many people quit working on their goal.

If you want to lose 20 pounds, aim to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Setting smaller goals for yourself along the way encourages you to stick to your plan. Man is a slave to forming habits, so form new habits and use them to your advantage.

Forming good exercise habits is especially important if you are not already in the habit.

It takes on average 28 days for us to adopt the new habit, so starting with smaller goals makes it easier for you to get used to the new way of life.

After 28 days of repeating the same action it becomes a natural part of your life so your eating and exercising habits may seem hard only in first month. Make them even easier by making moderate life changes in the beginning.
